Piku is a movie so close to my heart that I find it difficult to put in words. Frankly I cannot pinpoint the reason why it's such a favourite with me. May be as my Mama put it there are parts of me in that character. For me a movie is about building characters and this movie did that ina beautiful way. Each of the characters - Irfaan, Deepika, Amitabh, Mousumi was so clearly defined! And like real human beings, they had those flickers of unknown as well. Feelings expressed through glances and smiles and unspoken words. The entire road trip, where Irfaan looks at Deepika and she slowly starts getting comfortable - I am not sure any dialogue could have done any better.
There's that scene when Piku reaches kolkata and she looks out of the window, making childlike faces. It's so real and reminiscent of our childhood - moments from our memory, balcony just come rushing by. The father-daughter relationship was probably the central point but all these little things make Piku what it is - a movie with a soul.
